Bethany BecknellRepresentative Higher Education | My name is Dr. Bethany Becknell. I taught high school English for seventeen years in five very different schools: two large high schools, a small school on a military base, my own mid-sized alma mater, and a small private Christian school. I am certified in Special Education, Secondary English, ESL, and Gifted and Talented, and I am also a certified Master Reading Teacher and Reading Specialist. I have a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy from the University of Texas, Arlington, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. I have served as a teacher, department head, and dean of teacher development. In July of 2021, I was hired as the Director of Online Learning and Student Success for the College of Outreach and Innovation at Oklahoma Christian University, a program that focuses on adult learners. In November of 2024, my role changed to Director of Online Education Programs, where I work to develop innovative teacher preparation programs to help meet the needs of Oklahoma schools. | Contact InformationCommittee Assignments |
